Improving internal security for a high-end restaurant
A well-known restaurant in central London contacted us to design and install a security camera system for their restaurant in London.
Interior design and ambience are key parts of the appearance, and as a result, this was a major feature in the system design.
In summary, they needed discreet coverage across guest areas, staff zones, and shared facilities to protect staff, diners and manage incidents fast.
- Monitor dining areas for incidents involving guests or staff
- Reduce the risk of internal theft at till points and prep areas
- Deter antisocial behaviour in shared toilet spaces
- Provide video evidence in cases of lost property
- Offer peace of mind to staff, guests, and management
We began with a careful walk-through to understand the layout, potential camera placement.
Lastly, we met with the project manager to understand any installation considerations and challenges.
Security risk assessment & installation considerations
One of our hospitality sector security specialists met with the owner and general manager to understand their concerns and to gauge their security needs.
The venue’s high-end interior design meant standard, out-of-the-box cameras would clash with the sophisticated look and feel.
- Protecting the restaurant’s interior design was key for the management comapny
- As a result, a discreet approach to surveillance was the best foot forward
- Staff areas were required to be monitored to mitigate the risk of internal theft
- Shared restrooms needed a visible deterrent, especially for antisocial behaviour
- Cameras need to be installed to watch over bar areas
- Any security incident could damage the venue’s reputation or result in legal complaints
Altogether, the solution needed to be highly effective but barely visible to guests.
The recommended security camera solution
We built a system focused on performance and subtlety. In summary, we proposed a robust security camera solution, combined with a discreet installation.
Every camera was chosen for coverage, finish and field of view, with aesthetics customised to match the restaurant’s décor.
- Colour-matched dome cameras sprayed to blend with ceiling finishes
- Coverage across the main dining areas without being intrusive
- Cameras are installed in communal areas of the toilets, not inside cubicles
- Surveillance cameras positioned directly above till points
- A system designed to assist with theft, incident resolution and customer reassurance
In summary, the finished system design proposal balanced protection and discretion perfectly.
Installing the system on time & ahead of the opening night
The work was completed out of hours over three consecutive nights to avoid disrupting the fit-out schedule.
Coordinating with the facilities team, we rolled out a phased approach, ensuring our installers work well alongside electricians and other contractors.
- Hikvision dome cameras supplied and pre-sprayed to match ceiling tones
- Cameras are wired to a secure NVR, storing high-resolution footage for retrieval
- System installed as an IP solution, avoiding the need for surface cabling
- Zones pre-configured for future expansion with additional cameras
- Each phase was tested live with the restaurant manager before handover
The restaurant opened with a system offering crystal clear footage across all key areas.
All of this was achieved seamlessly, without compromising the venue’s design or dining experience.
