Main Objective - Securing over 7 UK Bleckmann Sites

In September 2024, a CCTV decoder was installed and commissioned, enabling live camera feeds to be displayed on existing monitors.

In October 2024, a comprehensive security upgrade and maintenance programme was implemented. This included the installation of a large-scale intruder alarm system featuring over 50 motion detectors and glass break sensors, along with control panels, internal and external sounders, speaker systems and fully tested user interfaces. All devices underwent battery checks, and system software was updated to meet the latest compliance standards.

Access control solutions were also deployed across 7 UK sites, alongside a Hikvision CCTV network comprising over 100 cameras with full monitoring capabilities.

Recording infrastructure was configured and tested to ensure reliable storage, sufficient capacity, and secure off-site backup.

Maintenance security services for long-term performance

To ensure the ongoing reliability, effectiveness, and longevity of the security infrastructure, a comprehensive annual maintenance contract was implemented. This contract was designed to support the continuous operation of critical systems, including CCTV surveillance and intruder alarm solutions, which play a key role in detecting, deterring, and responding to threats across warehouse and logistics environments.

The agreement includes a structured programme of planned preventative maintenance visits, ensuring that all system components are routinely inspected, tested, and optimised. These proactive visits help to identify and resolve potential faults before they impact performance, reducing the risk of system downtime and maintaining consistent protection of assets, inventory, and site operations.

Advanced CCTV Camera

24/7 remote system monitoring for real time oversight

In addition to on-site servicing, our contract incorporated continuous remote system monitoring.

This enabled real-time oversight of system health and performance, allowing for rapid response to faults, alerts, or security incidents. Where appropriate, issues would be diagnosed and resolved remotely, minimising disruption and ensuring swift remediation without the need for immediate site attendance.

The maintenance package also provided a flexible combination of reactive on-site support and remote technical assistance.
This hybrid approach ensures that any technical issues – whether related to cameras, detection devices, alarms, or connectivity – are addressed efficiently and in line with the operational demands of a busy logistics environment.

By integrating ongoing servicing with advanced monitoring capabilities, our maintenance strategy supports a robust, end-to-end security solution.
This aligns with best practices in warehouse and logistics security, where systems must operate continuously to detect intrusions, protect high-value assets, and maintain business continuity in the face of evolving security threats.

Yes, a CCTV system can be used to monitor deliveries in a warehouse.

This can help ensure that deliveries are made on time, that the correct items are delivered, and that the delivery process is conducted safely and securely.

CCTV cameras can also be deployed to guard against employee theft and the loss of inventory due to theft and negligence.

To ensure security in a warehouse, you can implement various measures.

These measures include installing CCTV cameras, deploying access control and door entry systems, and hiring security personnel. However, the cost of employing security guards is high so in this case we recommend considering CCTV monitoring

Other measures include using inventory tracking systems, setting up alarms, and installing locks, fencing, and lighting.  Lastly, conducting regular security audits, and providing employee training on security procedures can help to ensure your security systems are robust.

The cost of warehouse security systems can vary.

This depends on the size of the site and the type of security measures put in place. For example, if you are looking for 20 cameras including ANPR, PTZ and thermal devices, the cost is greater than a simple 5-camera IP CCTV system.

When it comes to access control, a system consisting of 20 doors is much more than if you are only looking to secure the main entrance. Lastly, a larger more expansive perimeter will need a more sophisticated system than one for a smaller operation.

Yes, it is completely legal to install CCTV in a warehouse. The two main laws to be aware of in the UK are the Data Protection Act (1998) and the Human Rights Act (1998).

Essentially you need to store footage for a period of time, let people know you have cameras operating on-site, and be able to provide footage to anyone who has been recorded.

The best way to protect your warehouse against theft is to install a comprehensive security system that is suitable for the size and type of site you are operating.

These systems can include CCTV systems including PTZ, thermal, bullet, and dome surveillance cameras. Additionally, access control systems and intruder alarms can be deployed to manage internal/external threats.

Each of these options when paired with regular checks and audits on your site, will help ensure your warehouse is protected against theft.

Yes, this requires the deployment of PTZ (pan, tilt, and zoom) cameras. PTZ cameras can zoom in on a target in real-time or retrospectively.

The type of commercial CCTV cameras are often deployed in car parks, warehouses, industrial sites, solar farms and other sites with vast perimeters.

Regular system maintenance includes checking camera alignment, cleaning lenses, testing image quality, and updating software. Furthermore, scheduled servicing helps avoid system failures and keeps your security running smoothly. At Safeguard, we offer ongoing support and maintenance plans tailored to your setup and needs.
