What did this school need?
A primary school in Reading needed an upgraded IP CCTV surveillance system.
Facing tight budgets and timeframes, Safeguard Systems was approached due to our expertise in delivering effective, budget-conscious security solutions within the education sector.
Their main security objectives were:
- Protecting against intrusion
- Detecting unauthorised access
- Ensuring 24/7 surveillance of key external areas
They had one challenge; there was no budget to deploy new CCTV poles or to carry out extensive groundwork.
Site survey & CCTV system recommendations
Before quoting for the system, an extensive site survey was conducted by an experienced surveyor.
This survey allowed us to assess the site, covering camera placement, and potential cost-saving measures, to help overcome their main challenge.
By using existing lighting poles in the car park, we achieved additional coverage at a lower cost.
Furthermore, we identified the opportunity to use wireless bridges to eliminate the need for extensive cabling.
This thorough survey process demonstrated the value of detailed planning, allowing our team to produce a tailored system design proposal with all objectives in mind.
Overcoming challenges & improving security
To offer total site surveillance, Safeguard Systems proposed the installation of turret and bullet cameras providing extensive coverage of all external areas.
As mentioned earlier; to overcome their key challenges, the cameras were installed on existing lighting poles. Therefore, this reduced installation costs.
Additionally, our solution included a combination of wireless bridges. And so, we eliminated the need to dig trenches and run cables.
One site upgrade completed. One very happy customer.
What did we install?
To meet the customer’s requirements, the following systems was installed:
- Hikvision bullet and turret cameras
- Ligowave and Ubiquiti wireless bridges
- 32-channel Hikvision NVR
