Project requirements & security objectives
A local council needed a professional commercial CCTV company to upgrade an existing security camera system to offer surveillance coverage of a skate park and all-weather sports pitch.
Furthermore, a new surveillance solution was needed to offer complete site coverage.
As a public sector entity, they needed an SSAIB-certified company to provide a comprehensive site audit ad detailed system design proposal.
Phase one would incorporate the skate park, playground, and sports pitches. Phase two would ensure total site coverage and enhance overall security.
Phase one: The skate park & sports pitch
We recommend integrating eight new surveillance cameras into the existing Council building’s IP CCTV system.
This setup will provide comprehensive coverage of the all-weather sports pitches and skate park, as detailed on the site plans.
The main council building’s existing 32-channel, 24TB Network Video Recorder would be retained to manage costs.
Furthermore, this would offer 30-day footage retention, using H.265 compression at 15FPS.
Phase two: Full site coverage
Our system design proposal for phase two recommended a seven-camera IP CCTV system, strategically placed for comprehensive site coverage, aligned with the customer’s requirements and site plans.
The system also included a 32-channel, 24TB Network Video Recorder with 32 channels, ensuring continuous 30-day recording at 15FPS with H.265 compression.
Furthermore, to deter vandalism and offer complete site coverage the system design proposal, included a six-metre CCTV pole, equipped with camera mounting bracketry, positioned near the park and sports facilities.
Lastly, an additional two poles were recommended to provide further coverage of the all-weather sports pitch.
The CCTV system installation
Phase one of the installation was delivered over two weeks, with Phase two following post-customer approval and system commissioning by Safeguard Systems.
This phased approach effectively balanced the project’s requirements with public access to the sports pitch and skatepark.
By minimising disruptions, Safeguard Systems delivered this project whilst maintaining the public’s convenience and all health and safety considerations.
Due to the public setting, the customer required complete professionalism, and our experienced CCTV installers and project management team delivered on this very reasonable requirement.
