Remote CCTV monitoring upgrade: Solar farm perimeter security and detection system
Safeguard Systems were invited by a global solar PV provider to carry out a site assessment on an existing CCTV monitoring system installed within a large solar field in the North Devon area.
The client had been experiencing several issues with the functionality of the CCTV system. This included poor image quality and mains supply issues. Safeguard Systems were asked to conduct a technical audit and provide a detailed report on the general operation and condition of the current CCTV system.
Upon completion of the system assessment, the client was provided with detailed risk assessments, method statements and assured them Safeguard Systems were conforming to all Health and Safety requirements and had all other accreditations in place. A site visit was scheduled to carry out a full technical survey, a report and quotations for any repairs or improvements required.
Technical audit: The recommended solar farm CCTV system
A detailed and comprehensive survey of the system revealed the main issues on site were being caused by lack of cable segregation, low density analogue camera images and poorly designed 240 volt supply systems.
It was recommended a full rewire and upgrade of the system should be undertaken. Clearly defined explanations defining the root cause of the issues were provided to the client in report form and competitive quotations for the work required to repair and improve the current CCTV system were delivered.
Following acceptance of the quotations, Safeguard Systems designed and installed a new HD quality IP CCTV system. This included fully segregated cables eliminating the interference, improved image display,and higher capacity 240-volt cables, which eliminated the mains supply issues.
A new Hikvision Server with integrated intelligent analytic motion detection software was also installed in order to reduce false alarm activations to the alarm receiving centre.
CCTV monitoring system install: The project outcome
Since the upgrade, the system has been producing clear and defined high definition images, no longer has mains supply issues and is functioning efficiently with no further issues.
The end result delivers enhanced security and a fully functioning deterrent to thieves and intruders.
